Westminster Time Credits at Lord's

Time Credits take a trip to Lord’s

It was fine weather for ducks, and not the cricketing sort, as Time Credits members from projects in Westminster, the City of London, and Buckinghamshire came together at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s, to watch a match.

A group of Bucks Time Credit members show off a big version of their local Time Credit note, at Lord’s.

You can see Middlesex, play in the County Championship or One Day Cup series by exchanging just 5 Time Credits. Despite the rain delay more than 20 volunteers soaked up the atmosphere in one of the world’s most iconic sporting venues.

Gary, who volunteers in Westminster, said

“Using Time Credits to come to Lord’s is fantastic, the atmosphere is cracking. I would definitely come back here, and will look forward to doing other things with Time Credits and bringing friends”.

Eventually we did get to see some cricket, with a few hardy souls waiting until 6.30pm for the start of play. Volunteers that had made the trip had given their time to causes as diverse as Connection at St. Martin’s, a homelessness charity, and in projects involved in Buckinghamshire County Council’s Prevention Matters programme, that helps keep adults from needing health and social care support.

Lord’s own volunteers earn Time Credits for helping spectators on big match days, such as test matches. By supporting their own volunteers with Time Credits, and supporting other volunteers by accepting Time Credits, Lord’s is a great example of how the Spice Time Credit network brings communities and the assets within them together – often for the first time.

Natasha, another Time Credit volunteer said,

“I wouldn’t have come to Lord’s without Time Credits, this is my first time at a cricket match. It was wet but the atmosphere was great. There is so much to see at Lord’s, there’s so much to it, and I love the free hat. I’ll be taking it home!”
